Freddie Mac released its latest Primary Mortgage Market Survey on Thursday, June 25. The survey showed mortgage rates increasing slightly from the previous week.

This week, the 30-year fixed mortgage rate averaged 6.49%, up from last week’s average of 6.47%. Last year at this time, the 30-year fixed mortgage rate averaged 6.77%.

The 15-year fixed mortgage rate averaged 5.84% this week, up from last week’s average of 5.81%. During the same week last year, the 15-year fixed mortgage rate averaged 5.89%.

“The average 30-year fixed mortgage rate was little changed this week at 6.49%,” said chief economist at Freddie Mac, Sam Khater. “Rates have remained relatively stable over the last six weeks. Meanwhile, purchase activity eased modestly and refinance activity has continued to pick up recently, reflecting borrowers’ responsiveness to current rate levels."

Based on published national averages, the savings rate was 0.38% as of 6/15. The one-year CD averaged 1.65%.
